NYE 2010

Today was a pretty lazy day. We laid in bed forever (as you can see by the clock, it's almost noon). We cuddled with the kitties.

And cuddled some more.
Lazed around the house a lot.

When it came to dinner time, we grabbed the best thing eat on NYE, garlic cheesy bread and,

Pizza.

We're getting caught up on our X-Files dvds. We've seen a lot of them, but not in consecutive order. Gotta love David's pretty face.

We opened the hubs x-mas presents (a basket of different beers from all over the world). We started with one from the Himalayans.

And went on to Russian. They are continuing to flow as we try to finish the last few seasons of the X-Files.

When it gets closer, I have to watch the ball drop and we'll probably play a game or two. I wish everyone a Happy 2011. I know it will be a great one for me!

Best Appointment Yet!

I got up bright and early with the hubs (he had to work while I took a vacation day). I ran some errands and headed to my dr. appointment. I was nervous of the results, but was looking forward to getting healed. The dr. (a sports specialist) took both legs (since I do have issues with both knees) and did some odd movements and kept asking if the movements were causing me any pain. They never did. She said that was great news. I explained when I did have problems and what I was doing and for how long.

The prescription was to work out more. I couldn't believe it! Look at my happy smile when I heard the news!

She gave me these pamphlets and told me to work out my quads and get them stronger, then I shouldn't have any more problems.

She also gave me a stronger does of ibuprofen to take 3 times a day. She told me that my knee cap moves around too much, so that's what's causing my pain. Once I strengthen my quads, they will be strong enough to keep them in place. I was so happy when I heard that I have to work out more. I asked if I could continue my spin class and the elliptical I was doing. The answer was yes!! She even told me that I could continue running and just stop when I felt like my knee couldn't take it any more. You don't even know how happy I am right now!
We just got back from hubs sister's place. She invited us over for dinner and a late x-mas. She fixed us some awesome enchiladas, rice and beans. We even had cherry pie for dessert. We planned Taboo (such a great game if you haven't played it) and had a great time. Too bad they live so far away. I am exhausted right now (I've been up for about 20 hours, which is waaay too long for me) and it's time for bed.

The Waiting Game

Today is my Friday!! I came home and cleaned up some. I'm getting ready for my dr. appointment tomorrow (getting all my questions in order and stuff like that). I hate waiting. I know there is a lot of waiting when it comes to this stuff, but I just hate it. I know hate is a strong word, but I do.

This weekend, the x-mas decorations come down and things get organized and put back to "normal". I can't wait for that either. My goal is to finish the book I'm reading right now and to start a new one. I love reading. I use to hate it, as well. But, I found some books that I love and I can't put them down. These are my favorite authors!

I'll let you guys know what I know tomorrow after m appointment. Wish me luck that it's nothing major!

What a Pain in the Knee

So, I called the doctor this morning and scheduled an appointment to get my knee checked out. I hope it isn't anything major and I can't wait until Thursday's appointment. I hate the waiting process and I know that whatever is wrong, patience is the key.

So, obviously, there was no gym for me today. I'm staying off my knee as much as possible. After last night's run (and after I blogged), I felt this horrible pain the the right knee. I felt like 2 bones were grinding together as I walked. Today, I feel no pain. That pain must have meant something, I so I decided to stop running until the appointment (and probably a lot of time after that, too). Hopefully I'll be able to at least continue my spin class. Here's looking at 6-pack abs and buff arms by summer!

Left Overs!!!

I love left overs! They are one of the greatest things! You don't have much ahead of you when eating leftovers. It's basically a re-heating thing you have to do (if necessary). Last night, we ended up eating spinach dip for dinner. See, the holidays bring out my bad eating habits and I can't help it! Here's tonight's dinner:

Starting Jan. 2nd, the sweets will slowly diminish. It's bad enough that I can't run that much. Today, I was only able to run 1.88 miles. My knee is hurting, I have to ice it and do the usual thing tonight (as well as every other night). I hope everyone else is running double time for me. Can you shed some of the calories from my waist line as well?

Sloth Like

Today has been a very lazy day. I didn't take a shower until 3pm. Left overs have been eaten all day long and movies have been watched and games have been played. Staying inside all day long has been one accomplished goal. Just wanted to wish everyone a Merry day after Christmas from my family to yours!

Merry Christmas!!

I woke up early this morning, too eager to sleep anymore. I woke up hubs and we opened our stockings that Santa left for us. Afterwards, we dove right into presents. Here some awesome stuff hubs remembered that I wanted (ignore the pj bottoms). I got a lot more, but this is all that I could wear (I got books and other cool stuff, too).

Since I've been baking and cooking a lot lately, hubs offered to make breakfast. We had some teeny weenies, scrambled eggs, toast and some coffee while we watched the Griswald's enjoy their Christmas.
Here I am putting the finishing touches on dinner.

Table is set and ready to enjoy the gorgeous dinner that I made.

I made yams,

and pot roast with potatoes, carrots, and celery.

Everything turned out great! Today couldn't have gone any better. We're resting our belly's and talking to our far away relatives. Dessert is next on our list...brownies, apple pie and ice cream!

I hope everyone enjoyed their x-mas as much I did! Time to work off that extra weight I put on this week.

Merry Christmas Eve

Today was pretty relaxed, but busy. I got up (without an alarm) and relaxed while I ate breakfast (my freshly made biscotti) and some coffee while we watched some shows. Afterwards, I started making things for today and for tomorrow.

The first thing I made was Spinach dip.

Then, I made an apple pie (I didn't made the crusts, though).

I enjoyed some hot apple cider (with a cinnamon stick made in the crock pot) while I watched the Flintstones Christmas (one of my favorites).

Here's the apple pie after is was finished baking...Yum!!

Brownies were next on my list.

Lunch was my next break. I made a croissant panni (with deli chicken and colby jack cheese) and some spinach dip with chabata bread.

For Christmas Eve dinner, we went over to a family friends' house. We enjoyed a great evening of presents and great company. We had Mexican food for dinner.

And, of course, I had some wine.

It's been a busy last few days, but tomorrow should be pretty easy. This is why I've been so busy lately, just to make Christmas as easy as possible. I hope everyone is having a great Christmas!!

What have you done this week?

Too Much in Too Little Time

I got up at about 3:45 this morning. I rushed out the door to take my dad to the airport to spend Christmas with everyone (in Seattle). Right afterwards, I headed straight for the 24 hour grocery store. By this time, it felt like I'd been up for over 12 hours. It was pretty nice, only 5 other shoppers were seen and I had to wait for the checker to come out from hiding (because she was so bored). Here's what I a picture of everything I bought. I bought everything for this week (including Saturday's dinner).

When I got home, I still had some energy from the early am coffee I took with me. I put everything away and started doing dishes and laundry. I also cleaned the house.

I ate lunch earlier than I normally do (because I got up earlier than normal). I watch some x-mas shows and relaxed some. I tried to take a nap, but some odd dreams kept waking me up. After a few hours of relaxing, I started my baking!

That I can remember, this is the first time I've decorated cookies. I made some sugar cookies (everything was from scratch). I got out my sprinkles and cookie cutters. I made some snowmen, trees and plain circles.

Next, I made my favorites (for the time being). My PB oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

And, lastly, I made some biscotti. I made lemon almond biscotti with chocolate chips inside.

And the other half was my hubs favorite (the same, just mi nus the chocolate chips). But, these were dipped in melted chocolate.

The chocolate tastes great when melted in your coffee.

I got everything done that was on my list. I keep my list in my phone, and my phone has been going off all day long, non-stop. I love being busy, but, man am I tired. I can't wait for bed time.

After my hubs got off of work, he finished his x-mas shopping for me. All the presents are laying un-wrapped in the game room (with the door closed). He's not going to wrap until tomorrow. Which is almost worse than wrapping them. Have I mentioned that I'm a big kid during x-mas?
Until tomorrow...more baking!!
What's your favorite item to bake during the holidays?

Short N Sweet

This is going to be short and sweet. I got off of work early today. Yay!! I've officially started my x-mas break (only 4 days off). Hubs was hungry before he got home, so he picked us up some In and Out burgers. Yum!! I'm in a coma now.

I couldn't resist, here's another cute picture of Scoutie. Izzie seems to be camera shy.

Tomorrow is an early and long day for me. Lots of errands and things to do. That's why this is such a short post. Hope everyone has a great night.

My Drive Home

At the gym, my knee allowed me to run 1 1/2 miles straight. Very proud of that. I know it's not the 4 1/4 miles (from Saturday), but it's slightly more than yesterday's 1.20 miles. Yay...some progress. It's almost time to start the healing for tonight. Until then. I'll show you some things I saw on my way home.

In the parking lot, there are a lot of temptations. Off the left of this photo, there is a Burger King and to the right of the photo there is a Leatherby's Ice Cream place.

It's pretty awesome to see some many cars in the parking lot so close to Christmas. I know people are busy with everything coming up, and they're still able to fit in their workouts!

I'm tired (a little disappointed in the run) and ready to go home. Time to eat and get started on my knee.

Here's some of the traffic I had to wait to get out of the parking lot. I can't wait until the holidays are over. I hate traffic. It seems like the people that never drive, come out now.

This is what my odometer looked like while slowing going home.

At least Scoutie was happy to have her bed back. She sleeps on my gym bag at night and until I take her off of it when I leave in the morning. She loves the weekend, when I'm able to leave it home all day long, so she can enjoy it!

I have to figure something out for dinner. Not sure what to eat, yet. I'm snacking on some carrots right now. Man, is my tummy growling!

Did anyone see the Lunar Eclipse last night? I was out cold before 10pm, so I didn't. I heard it was great!

Snow Trips

There's not much going on here. I ran on the treadmill for only 1.20 miles today. It hurt to even walk. So, when I was done running, I had to take it easy on my knee. I can't wait until I'm back to "normal".

It's almost time for our annual snow day here. Once a year, we drive up to the snow and have a snow ball fight, sled , eat yummy food and drink warm drinks. Here we are in 2008.

Do you have any annual winter time activities you do?

Lazy Sunday

This is what it looked like in our house today. Hubby is sick and doing a lot of sleeping to try to get better for work tomorrow. I'm just being lazy doing a little things here and there. It's a quiet day in the Davids' house hold. I'm just hoping to stay away from the hubs (to try not to get sick just before the holidays).

I'm off to clean the house and get ready for work tomorrow. How was your weekend? Any last minute holiday races?

Merry (early) Christmas to Me!!

This morning, I woke up to a kitten chewing on my knuckle. I guess Izzie really wanted me up. It was even earlier than we normally get up. My alarm hadn't even gone off, yet. I hate it when I get woken up just a few mintues before the alarm goes off.

It was storming outside. It was still pitch blackoutside, but the wind and rain had the leaves and some loose branches dancing outside. Since I was up, I got dressed and headed out. I need to go grocery shopping. So, since the store is open 24 hours, I left right away.

It was nice going shopping so early. The store is near a major mall. There was no traffic this way. After the store, I went straight to the gym (I didn't have any perishables). I got there before they opened, so I felt like a bad ass waiting for them to open (I wasn't the only one).

When I got in, I had in my mind that my knee was in perfect shape, there was nothing wrong (which I really didn't feel any pain at that time). I got on the treadmill and started running at a very comfortable pace (I didn't care a bout time, just miles). I ended up running (or very little slow jogging) for 4.25 miles (51:50). This time was only 6 minutes slower than my average 4.25 miles. I'm pretty proud of myself! I didn't just make my goal, I BEAT IT!!!

Today was x-mas package wrapping day in my house. I wrapped mine for the hubs and he wrapped his for me. I can't wait to see his face when he opens that big one in the back.

There are some hiding behind the desk off to the right.

Can you tell that I'm a bog kid when it comes to Christmas!!??

I'm Ready!!

My hubby got off of work early. He never gets paid time off of work (at least for leaving early). He ran some errands for me and even made dinner. Here's what I came home to while dinner was still being made:

(it's a wine from our winery trip we made a month ago to Apple Hill)

Here are the ingredients (he can be a food blogger): mushrooms, chicken, chili paste, cabbage, chicken broth, green onions, garlic, sour cream, shredded cheese, fresh spinach, and sweet relish (a recipe to clean out the fridge).

Here are the seasonings:

Mix it all together for 4 hours on high in the crock pot and this is what you get. It may look gross, but, man does it smell great! It's almost ready to be eaten. In a couple minutes, I'm going to start spooning it out!

I'm going to wake up bright and early to head to the gym. I'm feeling too comfortable (fat). I can feel my goal making its way tomorrow at the gym. I don't know what it is (may be your guys' good words of encouragement), but I can feel it. I've been RICEing and can feel something that may have changed in my knee. I'm not sure if I've mentioned it, but the knee pain has switched from the left knee (which feels completely held) to the right knee (I've always had bad knees). Everything just feels like it's working properly today. I haven't felt any pain throughout my day (which I do sometimes). I can't wait to see...
